About the Silicon Valley Santa Run
The “Santa Run Silicon Valley” is produced by the Silicon Valley Leadership Group Foundation (SVLGF) which provides the non-profit programming for the Silicon Valley Leadership Group.
The Silicon Valley Leadership Group, founded in 1978 by David Packard of Hewlett-Packard, represents more than 375 of Silicon Valley’s most respected employers on issues, programs and campaigns that affect the economic health and quality of life in Silicon Valley, including energy, transportation, education, housing, health care, tax policies, economic vitality and the environment. Leadership Group members collectively provide nearly one of every four private sector jobs in Silicon Valley.
Over the past years, municipal funding for Christmas in the Park and Downtown Ice were eliminated. A call out to the SVLGF was made and the “Santa Run Silicon Valley” was born to raise funds for these two cherished holiday programs. The “Santa Run Silicon Valley” provides valuable monetary contributions to the programs so they can be experienced by future generations.
Join us for a fantastic volunteer opportunity with the “Santa Run Silicon Valley” 2017. Volunteer positions include packet pick-up and race day positions on December 15 – 16. Volunteers (ages 14 and up only), will receive sweatshirts to wear.
The Silicon Valley Leadership Group Foundation has partnered with Nothing Wasted Consulting and the City of San Jose Environmental Services to green the “Santa Run Silicon Valley”. Any food scraps, paper food ware (such as plates, bowls, cups, napkins), and utensils can go into the green “compostable” container. Any plastic bottles, plastic containers, aluminum cans, and aluminum foil can go into the blue “recyclables” containers. For more information on our event greening efforts, please contact Nothing Wasted Consulting at firstname.lastname@example.org. With your help, we can make the Santa Run clean and green.
